This is an original piece of Keith Haring Street art that is one of a kind. KH Foundation will not authenticate clothing at this time (similiar to Keith's Subway drawings which they also do not authenticate).
Keith Haring Painted NYC Police leather Jacket- circa early 80's
There are a total of 4 images on painted on the jacket in enamel I believe
1-The left sleeve is totally covered in Keith's people all ajumble, in white paint only down the entire arm.
2-The right sleeve has a slithering snake going down the arm. It is in white and blue.
3-Front left pocket has a barking dog, with a box around it and borders, colors green and white, but this one is very faded.4 in x 4 in
4-The reverse of the jacket has a large (12in x 12in) three eyed happy face, in purple and blue and black, border painted in black.
The whole jacket seems owned and worked in by a painter, there are paint marks all over the place and inside the pockets, etc. There is the original NYC Police emblem on a pin in the front of the jacket. It is a size 48 jacket (pretty big).
Known Provenance of the Keith Haring Leather Police Jacket
created (circa 81-82) and acquired by Brooklyn Graffiti artist JM (it looks like someone did their own painting in this jacket)
acquired in 1984 from JM by BC (NYC Punk Rocker)
acquired in 2009 from BC to its present owner.
